The Peer Support and Capacity Building Grant
We believe that when we’re building for community, we must build with community. Our program is grounded in co-design — inviting people with lived experience of disability, their families, and multicultural community voices to lead the way.
We’re listening deeply — through surveys, interviews, and focus group discussions — to shape events and resources that truly reflect what we need and value. Gifts of appreciation will be offered as a heartfelt thank you to those who contribute.
Across Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, and Adelaide, we’re coming together to host free community events that are fun, meaningful, and empowering. These events are more than just workshops — they are spaces of connection, empowerment, and growth.
From martial arts sessions and storytelling circles, to mindfulness tea ceremonies and psychosocial workshops, our gatherings are interactive and supportive. They’re designed to build capacity, break isolation, and reduce stigma — while uplifting our shared cultural identities.
We’ll have interpreters, peer facilitators, and free catering at every event. These sessions are open to everyone — individuals, families, carers, community members — with or without a diagnosis.
We’re capturing real stories of strength and spirit through a powerful series of short documentary-style videos co-created with members of our community.
These films will feature CALD and Asian-Australian individuals living with disability, and the people who support them. Their stories show us what resilience, love, and possibility look like — in everyday life.
By sharing these voices widely across platforms like WeChat, 小红书 (RedNote), Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube, we hope they’ll serve as beacons — inspiring others, breaking stigma, and letting us know: we are not alone.
We’re offering up to 300 hours of free and low-cost consultations to support 100 individuals and families who are navigating disability, but not yet linked with NDIS Capacity Building funding.
These are holistic sessions — blending mental health and emotional wellbeing support with practical help on navigating the NDIS system, understanding your options, and making empowered plans for the future.
Our multicultural professionals bring cultural understanding and warmth. Sessions are available face-to-face or via telehealth — accessible and flexible for our diverse community.
