MEDICAL REBATE PROCESSES

You can obtain a large amount of medical rebate, if you own a health insurance, including Medicare of a PR, or the compulsory OSHC for international students.

STEP 1.Get your Mental Health Care Plan from your GP

GP (General Practioner) is the first stop of all medical services in Australia. GP’s Mental Health Care Plan is required to get medical rebate from psychological counselling sessions.

The GP service is covered by health insurance as well. If you are an international student, the GP services conducted by your school is often automatically rebated.

Please remember to have your Medicare card or OSHC policy number ready when you are going to have an appointment with a GP. Make sure you tell them about your feelings and disturbance genuinely. After your conversation with the GP, you can ask them for advice. Importantly, please ask for a Mental Health Care Plan, as it is mandatory for medical rebate. Also, feel free to tell your GP that you would like to work with a Chinese-speaking psychological therapist, and ask for a referral letter to Mindspace.

STEP 2. Make an appointment

Once you get the Mental Health Care Plan and the referral letter from your GP, you can make an appointment with us and get most of the fees covered.
